NJZ (NewJeans) Announces Temporary Hiatus During Hong Kong Performance
On the night of the 23rd, after finishing their final stage at ComplexCon Hong Kong, held at AsiaWorld-Expo in Lantau, Hong Kong, the members of NewJeans each held a note and read a message.
Hyein expressed her heavy heart, saying, “It really pains me to deliver this news. Today’s performance might be our last for a while. We have decided to temporarily halt all activities out of respect for the court’s ruling. It was not an easy decision, but we believe it is a necessary one at this moment.”
Minji added, “We knew from the beginning that the path we chose would not be easy. But we raised our voices to protect what we believe in and to stand by each other.”
Hyein, with tears in her eyes, shared, “Some might think that staying silent and enduring would have been the better choice. However, for us, this is about protecting ourselves. We believe that by doing so, we can return stronger than ever.”
Earlier, on the 21st, the Seoul Central District Court fully granted ADOR’s injunction request, ruling that until a final verdict is reached in the main lawsuit, NewJeans members cannot engage in independent activities without prior approval or consent from ADOR.
That night’s performance featured individual stages by the members and the unveiling of a new song. The new track, Pit Stop, had previously been teased on Instagram and stood out with its intense beat and catchy melody. The individual performances included covers of popular pop songs, such as No Scrubs by American R&B group TLC and Dontcha by the American band The Internet.
