Jenny, who released her solo album “Ruby,” appeared on the popular American talk show “Jennifer Hudson Show” and mentioned the Korean snack “Banana Kick,” which reportedly led to Nongshim’s market capitalization increasing by 264 billion won.
Banana Kick is a snack first launched in 1978. It is a soft and crispy corn snack shaped like a banana, with a banana flavor added and a thin layer of sugar coating.
The fact that it has survived for so long suggests that it has been consistently loved by Koreans. However, it is not one of the top-selling snacks in Korea.
Banana Kick (75g) is sold in Korea for about 1,500 KRW (around 1 USD).
Banana Kick has a mild banana scent, and its sweetness is not very strong. (Korean snacks generally tend to have a milder sweetness or saltiness.) It is soft and crispy, and because it contains a lot of air, it melts and disappears quickly as you chew.
It is very dry, so it doesn’t have much taste when you first bite into it, but the sweetness begins to emerge as it dissolves in your mouth. One downside of Banana Kick is that it tends to stick to the inside of your mouth.
